I have a Mama friend that loves to craft as much as I do and I always seem to invite her when things have to dry over night…. And then we don’t see each other for a week…. Or longer. Sorry BeCa :0
I also have a stinky bathroom. We are remodeling our upstairs and only have one bathroom right now and it gets plenty of traffic. Thank goodness there are only 3 of us. I clean it several times a week, for real! It is also my guest bathroom and my house is a great, “I just stopped to say hi without notice” kind of place. I love that, so I am not complaining. I am just interested in a nice clean place to potty. I found a recipe for toilet fizz and I thought, well that sounds awesome! BeCa was into the project and helped gather all the ingredients and some snacks for the children. I always feel so accomplished when I create a finished product while the boy is awake.
Supplies:
1 Cup Baking Soda
¼ Cup Citric Acid
1 Tablespoon Hydrogen Peroxide
½ Teaspoon Vinegar
20 Drops Essential Oil
Wax Paper
Glass Bowl
Cutting Board
Jar for Fizz
Label
I found a few cute jars at Marshalls to share as gifts and a big jar for my bathroom. Remember, that was the plan! We got everything prepped and after careful timing with the children, we began our project.
We decided to double the recipe so we could try two different oils, Lemon and Lemongrass. We chose these two for their fresh scent and ability to clean yucky things!
In a glass bowl we added the dry ingredients and used a fork to break up all the lumps and clumps.
We used a small glass bowl to mix the liquid and very slowly we added it to the dry mix. If it starts to fizz, it will, but slow down! Don’t over mix, just enough to incorporate. Next time I am going to use a spray bottle to add the liquid. I think the less reaction the better.
Then add your oil, 20 drops all around the bowl. Mix gently. You could use any brand of oils that you choose. In our house there is only one choice, Young Living. Not only because Young Living is the best for us but they are the best for our environment. If you don’t know much about the Seed to Seal promise, I will be happy to share information!
We used our fingers to form our bombs. The scoops and measuring spoons didn’t slide out very easily and we found that our fingers did a great job! They began to dry pretty quickly and we were able to get them in the jars within the hour. I am sure BeCa was surprised to take her jar the same day!
We made a few labels and we called it a finished project! We did try out a few that didn’t really take shape and they didn’t smell very strong at first. Later when I went into the bathroom for bath time with boy, it smelled so fresh and clean! I am excited for my husband to come home this afternoon so we can give it a real test…
Let me know what you think?
