As a parent, incorporating oils into your daily routine with your children can bring confidence and give you peace of mind knowing you are using products that are gentle and also effective. Using oils around your kids is a great way to introduce them to a clean, natural lifestyle. When using oils around your little ones, be sure to use gentle oils, and always have a carrier oil on hand. Below are some of our favorite oils to use with our children. And not all brands are created equally, so if you are not using Young Living Essential Oils we can not guarantee your results.
Lemon:
* Lemon essential oil has very uplifting aroma. This oil is also very versatile when it comes to using it for children! Here are a few of our favorite ways to use Lemon.
• For times when you would typically turn to Peppermint for its cooling benefits, try diluted Lemon oil instead. Combine with a carrier oil and apply on the spine.
• Gum in the hair? Bandage goop stuck to the skin? Lemon will be your best friend! Lemon essential oil is the answer when it comes to removing adhesives or sticky substances. Apply Lemon on a cotton ball and rub gently or apply directly to the goop.
*Avoid direct sunlight or UV rays for up to 12 hours after applying product.
Tea Tree:
Tea Tree essential oil has skin-supporting properties, helps to eliminate odors, and is gentle enough for your kids!
• Apply a few drops of tea tree and lavender on a cotton ball and place in the ear. You can also combine these two oils with a carrier oil and apply around the outer part of your ear.
• Kids are typically pretty dirty, particularly during summer months, and let’s face it—most kids constantly have dirt under their nails! GROSS! Tea Tree is perfect to help maintain the appearance of healthy skin and nails when applied to feet and toenails. Especially if your kids are active and play sweaty sports where thick socks and moisture are involved, Tea Tree is your answer. Apply daily to the feet and nails.
• Tea Tree is also great to help reduce the appearance of blemishes; it also helps maintain healthy-looking hair and scalp. Teenagers can use Tea Tree to support the appearance of their skin by using it neat or diluted as part of their skin care routine.
• Kids can be smelly! Use Tea Tree to help eliminate musty odors. Place a washcloth with a few drops of Tea Tree in your kids’ sports bags, shoes, or even their laundry hamper!
Lavender:
Lavender essential oil is the mother of all oils. Extremely versatile yet gentle, this oil is a must-have for anyone who interacts with children. Lavender packs a punch—it offers a calming aroma and is also well-known for its skin-loving properties.
• Lavender is the perfect oil to promote calm feelings—diffuse this oil at night in your children’s bedrooms, add to their bath routine, or simply apply topically to the bottoms of their feet.
• Kids have big emotions. To help fight occasional nervous tension, apply Lavender to the temples, base of neck, or shoulders.
• Summertime is here, and Lavender is an oil you need in your outdoor bag! Apply Lavender after a long day in the sun.
• Lavender cleanses and soothes minor skin irritations! You can apply this oil neat or diluted straight on the skin before you apply an adhesive bandage.
